Vivienne is a versatile singer-songwriter and plays the guitar.
She has produced and managed herself and the bands she formed or has been involved in. With her love of music, she has crossed the commercial boundaries of pop, soft rock, soul, and country.
Her ultimate vocal ideal is Karen Carpenter.
She has toured solo as well as formed bands in the UK & USA (including the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville). She has produced several CDs using her own band as well as eminent musicians such as Chris Newland, Howard Temple, Adam Helal, Krysten Berg, Helen Webb, Chris Beck, Clint Williams, Marc Parnell, Tony Mason, Phil Richardson, Tommy Barlow, Rita Campbell, Gordon Hulbert, Anita Kelsey et al.
Vivienne has been performing with various bands as a singer leaving college. She then became the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for a band called Solaris.
The group's major influences were Fleetwood Mac and the Cocteau Twins. The band made five demos and played various gigs around London.
Vivienne went solo in the mid 1990's, when she produced her first solo CD simply called 'Vivienne'. Some influences include kd Lang, Chrissie Hynde and Suzanne Vega. Vivienne was interviewed on the "Multitrack 2" programme of the BBC World Service about harmonizing and sang a live rendition of Bread's "Make It With You" on London's Heart Radio.
Those who came to her solo gigs mentioned that her music may sound fuller if she had a group behind her. She took their advice and in 1997 went on to form her own eight-piece band called 'Vivienne & Friends', later being known as 'Way Point 5'.
Her song "String Around My Heart" came within the top 100 in the 1997 Unisong Competition.
You can listen to Vivienne & Friends here.
She produced a second live CD recording music from pop to dance. This band also produced a three-song video at "The Orange" (West Kensington) and were also featured in the 'Sound on Stage' magazine and the local press in South East London.
In 2001, Vivienne was joined by some musician friends in Peterborough and played at the following festivals:-
From March 2004-December 2005, Vivienne joined a band 'Ajenda' playing London, Cambridgeshire and surrounding areas. They recorded six cover songs.
Vivienne has gone back to singing and playing her own compositions accoustically, with more news to follow!
